Bharatiya Janata Party leaders M Venkaiah Naidu, Prakash Javadekar, Bandaru Dattatreya and G Kishan Reddy were taken into custody after they tried to force their way towards Raj Bhavan on Sunday, in protest against the rise in prices of essential commodities.
Addressing a gathering at the the Khairatabad junction, as part of ‘chalo Raj Bhavan programme’, Naidu said if the UPA government failed to control prices of essential commodities within a month, then they would hold a ‘chalo Delhi programme’ and lay siege to the Parliament in March. He threatened to launch a massive nation-wide agitation if the UPA government increased the price of diesel and petrol.
Party floor leader in the Assembly G Kishan Reddy questioned chief minister on the logic behind the proposed rationing of kerosene to two litres.
Meanwhile, CPI state secretary K Narayana alleged that the BJP was responsible for the steep hike in the prices since it had done away with price control order in 2002 when it was in power at Centre.
